The Frost Shield is a close-damage weapon, so you're going to have to be both close and accurate to do the full amount of damage to Jet Stingray. This will allow you to get in a great amount of damage before he starts doing other attacks as he nears death, including a wind attack that will draw you near him (dash to get out of that), and a hard-to-avoid swooping attack, where he goes up and down along the lair. When he appears on the other side, hit him again, and this process will continue. This will make him recoil, then fly across the room.
As far as striking him, try jumping at him and hitting him with the Frost Shield when he is floating above the water. When he swoops, stay in the corners and he can't hit you. His lair is half full of water - he'll appear above the water, dropping his Ground Hunters along the floor, and then he'll swing across the room, swooping into the water, and then he'll appear on the other side. Jet Stingray attacks in somewhat of a pattern. It just takes some aggressive playing to do so. Essentially, Frost Walrus can be fought first, even before Magma Dragoon, but they are both so easy we decided why not have them as the game's starting one-two combo? Jet StingrayĪ difficult Maverick, Jet Stingray can be halted all together by way of the Frost Shield. The large ice balls he'll create and destroy when he's taken enough damage can also be destroyed quickly with a charged X-Buster shot. When icicles fall to the ground, dodge them as best you can and destroy them thereafter so they don't hinder your movement. When he comes at X, jump onto the wall, jump over him, and start pounding him with X-Buster fire. He'll simply slide slowly back and forth along the icy ground in his room smashing into the walls, and occasionally summoning icicles to fall from the sky. Therefore you may or may not want to use it in this battle - we suggest that you use it when he's jumping over you, but otherwise revert wholly to the X-Buster. His weakness is technically the Rising Fire, but with the nature of the Rising Fire being a weapon that shoots upwards, it can really only strike Frost Walrus if he jumps, or if you sustain damage intentionally in order to get near him to use it. Don't let his humongous size and his larger-than-normal lair fool you - he's a chump. With or without the Rising Fire, Frost Walrus happens to be an extremely easy Maverick to defeat. Use: Rising Fire / X-Buster Acquire: Frost Tower Just keep away from the lava, as it will hurt you tremendously. If you can't finish the battle without having your mech destroyed, make sure to at least damage him as much as you can and then finish him off at your leisure with the X-Buster. This would be relevant if you were fighting him one on one, but since you're not, simply go to town on him with the mech until it's destroyed. He can also shoot out a continuous stream of fire across the room and do some other stuff. He attacks like a Street Fighter character, with Hadokens, Dragon Punches, and the like. This will make the battle with Magma Dragoon a joke. To do so, instead of bailing out of your mech and proceeding up and around the lair, entering from the top, enter instead from the left side of the lair, busting through the rocks over the lava. We expect that you instead enter the battle with the mech that you acquire during the homestretch leading up to Magma Dragoon's lair. If you've tried to fight Magma Dragoon with your X-Buster and are thereafter coming here for help, you're probably going to ask us "how the hell do you expect us to defeat Magma Dragoon with the X-Buster and one Heart Container?"
